Yfoundations, the NSW peak body for youth homelessness, in association with Anglicare Tasmania and the University of Tasmania, is proud to present an upcoming webinar 'Young, in love and in danger': Teens’ experiences of domestic violence and abuse in their own intimate partner relationships and the intersections with homelessness. Please see the promotional post attached.
Join us for this important event to hear Dr Carmel Hobbs (Social Action and Research Centre, Anglicare Tasmania) present her forthcoming research report that reveals disturbing insights into the prevalence and nature of domestic violence and abuse among teenagers. Dr Hobbs' research arose in response to concerns of frontline workers who were reporting that a growing number of young people were being abused by a partner when under the age of 18.
At the webinar, Dr Hobbs will share information about this largely ‘invisible’ issue - and recommend a range of actions to help protect young people. She will be joined in conversation by Dr Catherine Robinson (University of Tasmania) and Trish Connolly, CEO of Yfoundations, as we discuss how this research intersects with youth homelessness.
Being held on the eve of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, the webinar aims to centre the experiences of young women as part of the conversation on gender-based violence, calling for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
